I’ve been thinking, oh jeez I need to post on that blog badly, So I go on and find a little draft from the end of June that I started and never finished! excellent! So I’ll just post this and then next week I’ll have another post, I swear, but its probably gonna be a novel, sigh.
End of June 2015
Well I’ve been in classes for just almost a month now. So that has been keeping me mentally very busy, some days I dont wanna even speak english after class. But we have been very busy outside of that as well, once I started class my American friend Jules came to stay with us. She was au pairing here but her family basically just sucked. The whole au pair concept is that you are suppose to introduce your little au pair to the culture. Well they didn’t do that at all. So she moved in with us the end of May until she flew out to germany, mid june, to au pair there (which so far has been going MUCH better). So basically we were on a- “show Jules as much Finnish culture as possible” mission. Pretty bad when the Canadian-Irish girl has to show off Finland, but I had lots of help from the Finn and his friends and family, so I think she ended her 10 month stint in Finland on a good note. It was nice having her, since we had such a short time to show her things it forced the Finn to take us to places he had promised to take me eventually, IE CASTLE!!! tee hee hee. And it was slightly hilarious to introduce her as our au pair to everyone. But in summary…
we went sightseeing,
babysat a puppy,
made some sushi,
went to an old fortress,
the castle,
weiner roasts,
fishing, (this photo was taken around midnight…)
dandelion crowns,
did some coffee dates…
It was a pretty fun time. Then we took her to the airport in Tampere and waved goodbye to our little au pair, I was a bit sad as she was my first native english speaker 😦
but we made sure she got one last hessburger….
and then the Finn and I started our little tradition of seeing something nice after we drop someone off at the airport, this time was just an old medieval church by the hessburger actually. Welcome to Finland, here are our ruins, we don’t really advertise. (FYI these pictures were taken after 10pm)
Then Midsummer’s marked two year since the Finn and I met each other and we were able to go to the same friend’s cabin as two years ago! Oh so magical!
